The letters on the pages are burned away leaving no trace of the original text. Each page is a white ash color with further examination and toying one can find that the pages may still be written on. 

  The current owner of this Tome may write or draw on any page. As long as the book has room (143 pages) the current owner may see the texts or drawings written on the pages. Any other party member may not see the contents on any page. 

  If this tome is taken by another NPC/player the pages "reset". If the tome returns to a previous owner the text they wrote will still be there.

  Spell casters may use this tome to record spells.
