Windshot was created in response to a growing threat from a group of Rocs who were terrorizing the Aarakocra's territories. These Rocs were skilled at avoiding the Aarakocra's aerial attacks and were able to absorb huge amounts of damage without going down. In response, a group of Aarakocra crafted Windshot using feathers from their own kind and the tendons of the Roc, imbuing it with magic that would increase its user's accuracy and critical hit range. The bow was also enchanted to harness the wind, allowing the user to shoot arrows with greater speed and force, as well as generate strong gusts of wind that could knock enemies off balance. You gain the following benefits when wield the bow:
- The bow provides a +2 to hit and damage.
- The bow scores a critical hit on a roll of 18, 19, or 20 on the d20.
- Buffeting gusts of wind accompany the path of an arrow shot by the bow doing an additional 2d6 force damage on a hit.
- Once per long or short rest when you hit with an attack from the bow you can force a DC 18 Con save or the buffeting winds cause the target to be Stunned until the end of your next turn.
Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
