You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. When you speak the command word, "occidere", Witch Hunter extends into a magical +2 shortsword. When you speak the alternate command word, "metere", the dagger extends into a large, dual-bladed scythe. This scythe is considered a magical +2 spear. You can only change the dagger into a scythe once per short or long rest. Witch Hunter has the following abilities:
When Witch Hunter is in its dagger form it gains access to the following ability:
Dark Recall. When you throw Witch Hunter as a dagger and miss, the blade will return to your hand automatically. When you hit with the blade, you can use your bonus action to summon the blade back to your hand.
When Witch Hunter is in its shortsword form it gains access to the following ability:
Ethereal Strike. The shortsword is imbued with the essence of restless spirits. Once per use of the shortsword, when you hit a creature you can activate this ability (no action required). The blade momentarily phases into the ethereal plane, allowing it to bypass non-magical resistances and immunities. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw DC (16). On a failed save, the target takes an additional 2d8 force damage.
When Witch Hunter is in its scythe form it gains access to the following abilities:
Spectral Reap. As a bonus action, you can call upon the scythe's magical properties to channel the spirits of the fallen. When activated, the scythe emits an eerie glow, and the next attack you make with it deals an additional 2d6 necrotic damage. If the attack reduces the target to 0 hit points, its spirit is instantly captured within the scythe. You can release the captured spirits as a bonus action to heal yourself or an ally within 30 feet for an amount equal to the target's hit dice.
Soul Severance. The scythe it can be imbued with ethereal energy, allowing it to sever the connection between a target's body and soul. When you hit a creature with the scythe, you can choose to activate this ability. The target must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 16) or have its soul temporarily separated from its body. While separated, the target is incapacitated and unable to take any actions or reactions for 1 round. On each successful use of this ability, the DC is lowered by 3 for that target on subsequent attempts of Soul Severance.
Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
