A mechanical crossbow modified with specialized coils in order to close gaps once insurmountable. Outfitted with strange markings and instruments, the full breadth of its functions are currently unknown, but it appears to have properties locked behind a hidden mechanism.
This weapon functions as a +1 Light Crossbow. When you take the Attack Action on your turn, you may expend a charge and use your bonus action to fire a grappling hook. When you do so, choose a solid object or creature within 40 feet; if the object is heavier than you, you pull yourself to the target, and vice versa if the target is lighter than you. If you fire the grappling hook at a creature, you must make a ranged attack roll and succeed in order to hit them; the creature must then succeed a DC 13 Strength Saving throw or they take 1d10 + your Dexterity Modifier piercing damage and are pulled 20 feet closer to you. Your movement as a result of the grappling hook still provokes attacks of opportunity.
This weapon has 3 charges and regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn.
Proficiency with a Light Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Combat, Ammunition, Loading, Range, Two-Handed, Slow
