The Abyssal Desolator is a nightmarish weapon, resembling an ancient, tarnished flintlock pistol. Its stock is made from twisted, blackened wood, and the barrel is encrusted with grotesque, writhing tentacles of obsidian. When aimed, the gun's muzzle opens like a mouth, revealing rows of jagged teeth.
Stats:
Damage: 2d10 psychic damage on a hit.
Range: 80 feet
Special Properties:
Insidious Whisper: When fired, the Abyssal Desolator emits a bone-chilling, dissonant whisper that can be heard only by the shooter and the target. The whisper carries messages of despair and impending doom, potentially causing fear in the target. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 17) or become frightened for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. This property may be used once per short rest.
Soul Devourer: On a critical hit, the Abyssal Desolator not only deals double damage but also siphons a portion of the target's soul. If the target is reduced to 0 hit points by a critical hit from the Abyssal Desolator, its soul is instantly consumed, preventing any resurrection or afterlife.
Eldritch Link: The Abyssal Desolator forms an eerie psychic connection with its wielder. Over time, the gun's malevolent influence can lead to madness. While attuned to the Abyssal Desolator, the wielder gains dark visions and is vulnerable to psychic damage.
Dark Resonance: The Abyssal Desolator emits a haunting, otherworldly hum when carried, causing unease in those nearby. Creatures within a 30-foot radius of the wielder have disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws.
