The talisman can locate the other half of a split object, as a Locate Object spell would.
The talisman has a deep crack that runs down the middle. Dropping, dealing 5 points of damage, or handling it roughly can cause it to split in half. You can also take a bonus action to split the talisman into two halves. Splitting the talisman splits it's wielder and their personality into two separate beings with opposing alignments.
When this happens, one half remains in your possession. The other half falls into the possession of an NPC that appears in the same space as you or an adjacent space if one is available. (see the "Tiger Talisman Half" item)
The NPC has the same Hit Points, Equipment, Spell Slots, and remaining Speed as you do at the time the talisman is split. He/She is identical to you in every way besides your alignment.
- The NPC will have the have the same Lawful-Chaotic alignment as you.
- If your alignment is Good, the NPC's alignment will be evil.
- If your alignment is Evil, the NPC's alignment will be good
- If your alignment is Neutral, flip a coin
- Heads: the NPC's alignment will be evil and your alignment will change to good.
- Tails: the NPC's alignment will be good and your alignment will change to evil.
If the Talisman is split during combat, the NPC will act on your initiative until the end of the combat. If you had already used your action this round, the NPC cannot take an action until the next round.
The NPC acts in accordance with his/her own alignment. He/She may take a bribe or agree to help someone that you would normally be opposed to. The NPC will be opposed to rejoining the two halves of the talisman, but can be convinced with a successful Charisma (persuasion) check equal to the NPC's own Charisma (or charisma save, or something else at the DM's discretion.)
The two halves of the talisman can be rejoined with an action if both are in yours or a willing creatures possession. When this happens, the NPC vanishes and your alignment returns to normal.
If the NPC dies, so has half of you. Therefore, you keep your new alignment permanently. Even after the talisman halves are rejoined. If this occurs you cannot use the talisman in this way ever again. However, you can still use it to locate split objects.
Optional roll playing element(at DM or Players choice): The player's alignment need not stay the same. A good player can become an "extreme good" variant of themselves. The purpose of the tiger talisman is that it splits the user in two halves. One half is all of the users good and the other half is all of his/her evil. So a good player who uses this item can start expressing "super good" tenancies. Such as becoming pacifist or constantly expressing gratitude toward other members of the party. An evil player may find themselves lacking in empathy or misplace what mercy he/she had left. This may be hard to do without making your character chaotic but I recommend discussing how this item operates and would effect your characters with your players/DM.
