The Third Eye of Kamazot is a magical artifact in the shape of an eye. It is made out of gold, brass, gilded stone and chrysoprase. It would fetch a sizeable amount in any market and an perhaps a small fortune if sold to a magical items collector.
The name Kamazot has been forgotten for many centuries. He was, in the time when Ubtao roamed the lands of Chult, an evil spirit who took the form of a bat with three eyes. Chultans believed that life was a maze which one had to traverse successfully to reach Ubtao in the afterlife. Once there, they were to trace the path of their maze for him, and if successful, they would join Ubtao in the afterlife. If not, they believed their souls would be lost forever in the Planes of Gray.
Kamazot made deals with Chultans and tempted them with information about their life maze, promising them help in navigating it and effectively cheating their way into Ubtao's afterlife. The price was usually steep, as Kamazot required acts of violence and sacrifice - those seeking his help often presented their eyes as payment or the eyes of their first born children.
To attune to the Third Eye of Kamazot, you must remove one of your eyes and press the jeweled eye into your socket. It then grafts itself into your skull and magically allows you to see again. However, if the Eye is ever removed, you die.
The Eye grants you the following properties:
- You have darkvision up to 120ft.
- Once per day, you may cast the spell Find the Path, ignoring all material components, without needing to keep concentration and without needing to be familiar with the location. After casting the spell, you must make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw. You take 6d6 psychic damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.
Notes: Sense: Darkvision, Scrying, Utility, Cursed, Eyewear
