Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement)

The gears and chains, which cover these iron bracers, are constantly moving, producing a low but distinctive ticking sound; barely audible, you can also hear a voice, muttering instructions on the bracers' usage.

Dobris Orrinen, a gnome of the Midmont Thicket, crafted the bracers, together with many other items, as part of his "Iron Gnome Project", to arm a gnome hero who would protect his community.

Little he knew that he was going to be the hero.

Indeed, while testing the bracers in the woods, he stumbled upon a band of goblin of the Infamous Dagger tribe attacking a convoy.

Undetected at first, he started firing deadly arrows at the goblins, who quickly decided to flee, screaming about the "Ticking Death".

Still today, the Daggers and many other tribes have legends about the Ticking Death which is going to kill the unwary goblin.

But, the Ticking Death was just the first of the items created by Dobris as part of the Iron Gnome Project; and before his death, he hid all of them in his workshop.
