This weapon is magic, crackling with contained lightning and electricity. When thrown, it snaps into a lightning bolt, forming a line that is 5 feet wide that extends out from the attacker to the target within 120 feet. Each creature, excluding you but not your friends, must make a DC13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 lightning damage on a failed save and half as much on a successful one. The lightning bolt turns back into javelin when it reaches the target - allowing the damage die to be ranged damage with an additional 4d6 lightning damage.
This effect is only available once per long rest.
With an artificer's tinkering along the shaft, the weapon will return to the thrower once per short rest, prompting the attacker to make a second DC13 Constitution saving throw to resist the lightning damage as it returns to hand.
Proficiency with a Javelin allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
Notes: Damage: Lightning, Damage, Combat, Thrown, Slow
