Attuning to a Third Eye requires at least one hour of uninterrupted silent meditation with the stone affixed to the creature's forehead. During this time, the Third Eye slowly sinks into the flesh, painlessly, and melds with the area. An eye forms in the area, with an iris resembling the Third Eye stone. When this new eye is closed, the forehead seems smooth and unaltered. The attuned creature can open or close the eye as they would their own, requiring no action.
Comprehension. Whenever a creature that you can see begins casting a spell, you can use your reaction to activate the Third Eye of Comprehension. When you do so, you gain temporary knowledge of the spell being cast.
For the next minute after activating the Third Eye:
- You know all details of the triggering spell.
- You can cast the spell as if it were on your class's spell list and you had it learned and/or prepared, if you have the appropriate spell slots to do so. If the spell is a cantrip, you may cast it without expending a spell slot.
You must choose to use this feature before the spell can be identified and before it takes effect, because the Third Eye must witness the entire casting of the spell in order to decipher it.
Once the Third Eye has been activated, it cannot be used again until you complete a long rest.
