Weapon (spear), legendary (requires attunement)

This legendary weapon is fashioned from infernal iron and traced with veins of hellfire that shed dim light in a 5-foot-radius. This spear was once wielded by a General Commander devil under the reign of Archduke Zariel of Avernus. Somehow, the infernal spear has made its way, hand to hand, possession to binding, to the Material Plane.

Zza'ahtz is a +3 magical spear and has the properties reach, thrown, and versatile. While wielding this weapon, the user has resistance to Fire, and is immune to the Frightened condition. Attacks made with this spear deal an additional 3d10 Fire damage on hit. This weapon will return to your hand when thrown. You cannot be forced to drop the spear. When thrown, the weapon creates an explosion that deals 3d12 Thunder Damage in a 10ft blast centred on the target.

This spear has 1 charge that recharges over a Short Rest; The charge can be spent as an Action to use the ability Fiend Flash.

Fiend Flash. Rush foward 30ft instantly, creating an air vortex that forces any foe 5ft away or within the line to make a Dexterity Saving Throw DC17. Foes that fail take 6d8 Force damage and are Stunned until the end of your next turn. Those that succeed take half damage and no further effects.

Any humanoid killed with this weapon has its soul funneled into the halls of Asmodeus' castle, where their contract is instantly written. Their corpse remains and reanimates as a Undead Zombie under your control until its demise.

Proficiency with a Spear allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
