Weapon (shortsword), legendary (requires attunement by a creature good standing with a God of Nature.)

The Olman god of Nature, the Withered Tree, Xilonen, has blessed this weapon. It functions as a +1 magical weapon, with a 15 ft reach, and a base damage of 1d6. The spiked or hooked ends of your whip are no more, having been replaced with a Roper's Tendril. To this end, a user attuned to this magical weapon can mentally control the whip as long as it is in the user's hand. The damage type changes to piercing

Restrictive Vine: as an action, you may attempt to wrap your whip around an enemy. The enemy will make a Strength Saving throw against your Str save DC (8+Str+Prof). If they pass, they will take 1d4+1 Piercing Damage. Should they fail, they become restrained instead. However, their movement speed will not be affected in this situation, rather, they become tethered to you and cannot move any distance farther away from you than where they started their turn, unless they pass an athletics check against you to move as though difficult terrain, pulling you. You, however, can do the same to them on your turn. During this time you cannot use your whip for attacks or to tether another target. You may release this effect for free at any time during combat. A creature may spend its action attempting to break free with a Str check against your Str Save DC, or by the whip taking 25 damage in a round, destroying the weapon (see Natural Cycle below).

Natural Cycle: If the handle or tendril of the whip is destroyed, by taking 25 bludgeoning or slashing damage (respectively) in a single round, the weapon will fully regenerate after one full round has passed, at the start of your turn (meaning one turn without the weapon). There is no limit to this regeneration, but you are informed it comes with an undisclosed cost, likely minor and unrelated to you, however. The whip must usually be directly targeted (natural 1's may bypass this at the DM's discretion), and the item has an AC of 13, due to its magical and biological nature.

Sentience: the whip appears to have some level of consciousness, as it quivers in the presence of small prey, or the blood of orcs and goblinkind (and those unharmonious to nature). It has yet to show any signs beyond this, if any exist.

Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
