In ages long past, when the creator races were first making their mark on the material plane, two acolyte brothers, known as Cain and Abel, both worshipped an unkown god. However, this god favored Abel over Cain. Consumed by jealousy, Cain betrayed his brother, stabbing him with his ceremonial dagger. Either as a punishment for Cain slaughtering a gods most beloved servant, or through the sheer wickedness of the betrayal, both Cain and his dagger were cursed. Cain was never seen again, but his dagger has passed from murderer to murderer in a bloody path, the suffering of Abel and the wrath of Cain still clinging to it.
The Abel's Agony is an ornate silver dagger which appears mundane by all standards, except that the edge is splattered with blood that cannot be washed off, and does not dry. It exudes suffering and hatred in the form of a dull hum which can only be heard by the attuned creature.
The dagger has the following effects
- The dagger exists to betray ones own kind. It gains an additional +1 to attack against humanoids, a +3 to attack against creatures of the same race as the attuned creature, and a +5 against creatures who have direct and close blood relation to the attuned. If a target is more than one of these things, they do not stack.
- Once per day, when the attuned makes a sneak attack with this weapon, they can choose to deal the maximum damage that one attack could do.
Special Attunement
If a humanoid kills the attuned creature with a melee weapon attack, they will automatically attune to Abel's Agony, the dagger appearing somewhere on the murderers person. If the humanoid has no more attunement slots, or cannot carry the dagger on their person, they do not attune and the dagger remains where it would be on the attuned creatures body.
Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
