Tasked with creating hundreds of specialty arrowheads for a demanding king, Zilch, the eccentric dwarven artificer, created his Automatic Arrow Foundry as a solution to the age-old dwarven dilemma: too much ale to drink, too little time for arrow crafting.
The quiver has two compartments, one for holding up to twenty pieces of pre-constructed ammunition such as arrows or bolts. The other is subdivided into two more slots: one for shafts and one for metal.
This quiver has a maximum of 8 charges and regains 1d6 + 2 charges at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. One a 1, the quiver experiences a meltdown, turning to slag, and is destroyed.
As a part of a single attack action per turn, you may expend a charge to construct and fire an arrow or bolt provided there are sufficient shafts and metal scraps loaded into the quiver. When these arrows or bolts are fired and missed or when their effects expire, they revert back to standard arrows or bolts. The arrow or bolt may take one of the following forms:
Standard: A standard arrow or bolt that can be fired from a bow or crossbow.
Hammerheads: A blunted, heavy-headed arrow or bolt that deals bludgeoning damage instead of piercing damage. This damage can be non-lethal, even at range.
Broadheads: A wide-headed arrow or bolt with three razor-sharp blades running down each side. On a hit, the target must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be subject to the bleeding condition for two rounds or until they receive any healing. When bleeding, at the start of each of their turns, they take 1d4 piercing damage.
Streamlined: A hydrodynamic arrow or bolt with a sleek design. When this arrow is fired underwater, you can ignore the penalty normally imposed on ranged attacks with your bow or crossbow.
Laden: A heavy arrow or bolt laden with extra metal at both ends. On a hit, the target's speed is reduced by 5 feet until they use a bonus action to remove the arrow or bolt from their bodies or equipment.
Micro: A short arrow or bolt used for close-quarters combat. When this arrow or bolt is fired at an enemy within melee range, you can ignore the penalty normally imposed for making attacks with your bow or crossbow at this enemy.
