Attributes:
- +2 Shortsword
Sentience:
- This unassuming sword is a sentient Lawful Good weapon with an intelligence of 14, Wisdom of 20, and Charisma of 16. It communicates by transmitting emotion to the creature wielding or carrying it.
- Zhan Lu has hearing and darkvision out to 120 feet.
- Upon attunement, the wielder learns that it's purpose is to protect those who cannot protect themselves, especially children and orphans.
Spiritual Swiftness:
- While attuned to Zhan Lu, your Dexterity and Wisdom increase by 2 up to a maximum of 24.
- Critical hits with Zhan Lu restore 1 Ki Point. This can occur only once per round.
Sword of Kindness:
- Zhan Lu cannot kill. Any creature reduced to 0 hit points by an attack from Zhan Lu is not killed but is instead incapacitated.
- When at least one hostile creature is within 60 ft, you can use your action and speak the phrase “Benevolence knows no enemy.” When you do Zhan Lu will cast Mass Heal divided evenly on ALL creatures within range. If a creature cannot benefit from the spell (such as undead) the healing is wasted. This feature cannot be used again for 1d4 days.
- Acting in a manner directly against the swords chosen purpose will cause you to immediately un-attune to Zhan Lu. Such actions might include committing an Evil act, causing harm to an innocent through inaction, or failing to protect a helpless creature. You cannot attune to Zhan Lu again until you atone for your actions. The DM determines the severity of atonement based on the infraction.
"Zhan Lu was more like a pair of eyes than a sword. Black in color, the long, unmarked sword gave a sense of kindness and benevolence, rather than sharpness. Like Heaven’s deep and discernable eyes, the sword watched the behavior of kings. If a king had moral integrity, then the sword would be with him and his country would be prosperous; if the king didn’t have moral integrity, the sword would leave him and his country would fall apart. Upon finishing the sword, Ou Yezi could not help shedding tears, for he finally realized his lifelong dream: casting an unparalleled strong sword without a murderous appearance. Benevolence knows no enemy. Zhan Lu was a sword of kindness."
Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: This sword was inspired by a legendary Chinese sword of the same name. The concept is mine, but the description and name are not. I cannot link the source due to TOA, but google the name and you'll find it., a Monk., Finesse, Light, Vex
