Wondrous Item, artifact

This disc has diameter of about ten centimeters and is made of gold. It has small glass vial embedded in a hole in the middle, containing a few drops of blood. An inscription runs around the rim of the token saying "Kvithammar's favour, to be treated as kin". The other side has motifs of mountains and a crown.

These tokens were granted by kings and queens of The Ashen Mountains, for exemplary servitude or heroic deeds, like staving of an assassination or savings a prince from drowning. Holders of these tokens could use them any time they wished by requesting audience and breaking the vial in front of the sovereign. They would then ask for a favor with vague promise of being treated as kin to the sovereign. Favors were asked in secret, though some were obvious like piles of gold, land grants, high offices and royal pardons for crimes. Some asked for more sinister things like assassinations or banishing of their enemies.

Royals honored the favors given by their ancestors. Still people were usually pretty swift to use the tokens, because if the royal family changed, the next one was not guaranteed to honor their predecessor's favors, especially if the change of power was violent.

This token was created and granted by last royal lineage of the Ashen mountains, the Kvithammars.
