This sword has a blade made of crudely-carved marble stone, affixed to a simple wooden handle and bound with bronze nails and twine. An ancient, unreadable rune is carved on the blade.
You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Whenever you score a critical hit against a creature with bones or kill such a creature with this sword, it feasts upon the creature’s marrow and you gain 10 temporary hit points. While you have these temporary hit points, you have advantage on Strength checks and saving throws.
Curse. A legend lore spell reveals that this blade is cursed, as it was the first sword to ever kill a humanoid. As long as you are attuned to the sword, you are unwilling to part with it, and as long as you have temporary hit points from the sword, the thrill of the blade’s first kill fills you and you are unable to take reactions.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Bonus: Temporary Hit Points, Damage, Combat, Versatile, Sap
Being unable to take reactions really isn’t that serious of a downside, compared to something like the Berserker Axe. I feel like it should be more punishing. Maybe whenever you reduce a creature to zero hit points there’s a chance for the sword’s bloodlust to become so strong it renders you paralyzed?
Let’s say it’s a 20% chance, and the first time it happens you’re paralyzed for only 1d4 turns. But after that, the paralysis becomes progressively more debilitating, and each time it happens you add an additional 1d4 to the total number of turns?
10 temporary hit points also feels kinda, I dunno, arbitrary. I’d prefer being able to roll for it (3d6 or 2d8) to make things more dynamic, but that’s just personal preference. It would probably slow down combat anyway.
Feel free to ignore this, lol. Just some suggestions.
Thank you for the feedback! I agree with your point about the curse, and I’ll take this into account.
