At first glance the compass appears to be a normal, basic, compass that might be found anywhere.  A closer look reveals that there are no degree markings.  Should you follow the direction pointed out by the compass, you will find yourself somewhere you are needed.  You may not end up where you wanted to go, but you usually end up where you need to be.
