After years of training in a Witcher School a student will undergo the Trial of the Grasses, during which through the use of spells, herbs, and potions the student genetically changes and begins a new chapter of their training. After the Trial of the Grasses there is a test they must undergo, another trial, at the end of which they earn their Witcher’s Medallion.

Each Witcher School crafts their medallions in the shape of the head of the creature after which they are named.  The medallion is what gives the Witcher access to the magical energies they use to cast their Witcher Signs. Without this a Witcher is unable to cast any of their signs. Through the medallion’s link to magic the medallion will vibrate when near other magical forces, objects, or practitioners; the stronger the magic the greater the vibration.
