Created by the Sentinels of the Siderion as a crowd-control measure, Thunderstrike Arrows provide archers with a nonlethal option for subduing their targets long enough to restrain them, escape from them, or inflict a coup-de-grace.
The fletchings and shaft of these arrows look entirely mundane and normal. The heads, however, are unique. Moulded from clay impregnated with elemental thunder essence, these spherical arrow heads are covered in miniscule arcane sigils. These sigils keep the elemental essence contained until such time as the arrow strikes a target, at which time they release the essence and amplify its power into a thunderous blast of skull-rattling noise.
These arrows can be shot as part of a Ranged Attack from any size of bow. They cannot be shot from a crossbow. On a successful attack with the arrow, the attacker makes a normal damage roll for that attack (including all relevant damage dice, ability bonuses, and other bonuses). The target, and all creatures within a 10-foot radius of the target, must make a CON save. The DC of this CON save is equal to the total damage rolled for the attack, or 10; whichever is greater.
On a failed save, the target struck by the arrow is deafened, stunned and knocked prone until the end of their next turn. On a successful save, they are not stunned.
On a failed save, other creatures within the radius of the effect are deafened and stunned until the end of their next turn. On a successful save, they are not stunned.
Creatures who are flying when struck by this arrow's effect, and fail their CON save, immediately fall straight down to the square directly beneath them, taking falling damage as normal.
Spellcasters who fail their CON saves immediately lose concentration on any spell.
Thunderstrike Arrows do not deal any damage to the target. The damage roll is to determine the DC of the CON save only. All energy from the arrow is consumed by the sigils within the clay head at the time of detonation, preventing any actual physical harm to the target.
The blast of a Thunderstrike Arrow is painfully loud within 100' of the target, and clearly audible up to one mile away.
If a Thunderstrike Arrow misses its intended target, the attacker rolls d6. On a roll of 3-6, the arrow can be recovered and used again. On a roll of 1-2, the arrowhead is cracked an unusable.
Notes: Deafened, Prone, Stunned, Combat, Consumable
