Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement)

Zethurian the Siphoner has six golden mechanical legs and a wicked tail of that of a scorpion, each intricately designed and exuding a sense of precision and power. Its body is a flawless mesh of quartz and diamond, giving it a mesmerizing and radiant appearance. This 6-legged contraption mixes elements of a scorpion with that of a leech.

Zethurian has 3 charges that refresh each long rest. As a bonus action Zethurian can be sent to siphon the essence of an enemy by expending a charge. Roll a d20 and add your spell attack modifier to hit. Upon a success, the Siphoner latches onto the target. Zethurian can be recalled as a free action after up to 3 turns. For each turn the Siphoner is attached to a target it retains 1 hit dice of the target, up to 3 hit dice of damage. You can expend these hit dice with your next hit, the damage type to be determined by the DM. On its turn the targeted creature can spend its action to try and brush the item off. It must make a DC17 Dexterity Saving throw to shirk off Zethurian, losing half of it's held essence, rounded down.
