Staff (quarterstaff), very rare

The Staff of Dual Essence is an exquisitely crafted quarterstaff made of polished ebony wood, adorned with intricate silver runes that seem to shimmer with a faint, otherworldly glow. At each end of the staff, a shimmering orb of dark energy pulses softly, hinting at the powerful magic contained within.

Necrotic Infusion: When the staff strikes an enemy with one end, it deals an additional 2d6 necrotic damage on top of any normal damage inflicted by the weapon.

Restorative Touch: The wielder can use the opposite end of the staff to touch a friendly creature or themselves, expending a charge to heal 2d6 hit points. This touch has no effect on undead or constructs.

Dual Essence Resonance: Once per long rest, the staff can resonate with both its necrotic and restorative properties simultaneously. When activated, the wielder can choose to deal an additional 2d6 necrotic damage to a target and heal themselves for 2d6 hit points.

Soul Bond: Upon attunement, the staff forms a spiritual bond with its wielder, granting them insight into the balance between life and death. The wielder gains proficiency in either Medicine or Arcana (their choice), reflecting their enhanced understanding of life force and magical energies.

Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
