Xaulohn

INT 12, WIS 10, CHA 14. Xaulohn is a lawful evil +2 dagger of wounding. It can speak, read, and understand Infernal and Common, though it prefers to communicate telepathically with its wielder. It has hearing and darkvision to 120 feet. This ability is not granted to the character that carries or wields it. Xaulohn is convinced that it and its wielder have key roles to play in future events, and it will whisper hellish secrets to its wielder as a way of encouraging them to use any means necessary to achieve their glorious destiny. 

Xaulohn looks like any standard dagger until it becomes attuned to a spellcaster. Once attuned, its diabolical heritage becomes apparent. Any light reflecting off the blade has a decidedly red tint and it acts as a +2 dagger of wounding. To retain attunement, at least 3 drops of blood must fall on the blade's surface every 24 hours, twice that amount on the new moon. All blood that comes into contact with the blade is absorbed immediately. Xaulohn will gladly accept more blood, but it does not alter its abilities. If any 24 hour period falls when the blade does not come into contact with blood the wEason must be reattuned by spending at least 72 hours in the possession of a spellcaster, with the requisite minimum 3 drops of blood each of those 3 days. 

Hit points lost to this weapon’s damage can only be regained only through a short or long rest, not by regeneration, magic, or any other means. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with an Attack using this Magic Weapon, you can wound the target. At the start of each of the wounded creature’s turns, it takes 1d4 necrotic damage for each time you’ve wounded it. It can then make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, ending the effect of all such wounds on itself on a success. Alternatively, the wounded creature, or a creature within 5 feet of it, can use an action to make a DC 15 Wisdom (Medicine) check, ending the effect of such wounds on it on a success.

Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
