Winter's Bliss (Atropa belladonna) is a rare plant on the material plane, though plentiful in the feywilds; considered by elves to be "the most deadly non-carnivorous plant in existence." A large wildflower of the Mirkwood Flora Family, Winter's Bliss resembles an enormous Centaurea Cyanus; though easily recognizable due to it's stature, extraction of substance is seemingly more challenging. Winter's Bliss exudes an enchantingly pleasant, yet deadly neurotoxin consistently; as creatures draw closer to it's source they often fall motionless at it's roots, eventually succumbing to death and feeding the plant with their nutrient rich corpses.
The large flower's toxins draw may ensnare creatures, it's leaves can be ground and synthesized into a mild poison; but the deadliest product of the Winter's Bliss is in the center hollow of it's stalk. In this space the plant secretes a glimmering blue substance that has the potential to kill men with a mere drop, there is no known non-magical cure beyond natural resistance. To utilize this substance a creature would need to collect it without touching it due to it's nature. The plant has adapted to theft over millennia and thus retrieval is not easy, upon extracting the substance creatures will find that they were greeted into the hollow with soft leaves brushing past them. However their exit is significantly more difficult, with the backside of the leave coated in the blue substance as well as razor blade blades facing inward. The center hollow typically contains 15mL of the substance which replenishes over 90-days.
To synthesize the toxins of Winter's Bliss one would need to be adept in utilizing a poisoners kit and spend 6 hours straining and purifying 100mL of the substance from it's leaves to be used as a liquid poison. This process could be expedited by two hours on a successful DC 15 Slight of Hand check; failing this check would only produce 50mL of the potential 100mL.
Symptoms include: paralysis in the involuntary muscles of the body, including the heart, as well as death. Those who survive often unknowingly have the poison flowing within their blood stream for 1d10 years, those who obtained the affliction or having had magical immunity and felt safe to remove said enchantment died shortly after doing so.
This poison deals 2d4 poison damage per 1mL consumed/ingested/injected. Upon being poisoned target creature must make a constitution save of DC14. On failure the target is considered paralyzed for 1-minute with additional saves to be made at the end of each of the creature's turns.
Poison obtained from the center hollow of Winter's Bliss: This substance deals 10d8 poison damage per 1mL consumed/injected/injected. Upon being poisoned target creature must make a constitution save DC20. On failure the target is considered poisoned and paralyzed for 1-minute with additional saves to be made at the end of each of the creature's turns. If a save is not made or magical intervention does not take place the target will die once the 1-minute is up.
