The zealot's shadow, is a creation of Therran Gloombringer. When Broyle died in defense of The Burrow, The Fireside, and The Sunryder, and his soul was taken to Celestion. Therran offered his power to give Broyle his life back. Broyle declined the offer, but gave to Therran the piece of his soul that Celestion didn't care for, his zealotry and pride.

When a being that is attuned to this item and is carrying it, falls to 0 hit points. A shadow forms over the creature, looking like a crazed muscle bound rabbit-man. At the start of the next initiative the creature that has been encased in the shadow; heals half of its maximum hitpoints, gains Recklessness (as per reckless attack of the barbarian), and Spite (rage as per the barbarian).
