Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement by a Barbarian)
Forged from tempered adamantine and imbued with the primal fury of the wild, Titanfang has knuckles are jagged with reinforced steel spikes, while runes etched into the wrist glow faintly, pulsing with power when activated. Some say Titanfang was not forged, but taken from a warlord whose grip could shatter steel, crush bones, and break the fangs of dragons. Now, it waits for another worthy of wielding its might.
Properties:
1. Instinctive Guard (Reaction, Recharge on Short or Long Rest)
When a creature hits you with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to harden your stance and intercept the strike:
- Your AC increases by 3 until the start of your next turn.
- If the attacker is within your reach, you may attempt to catch their weapon or limb.
- The attacker must make a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (DC = 8 + your Strength modifier + proficiency bonus).
- On a failure, you grapple them (if the attack was made with a body part) or disarm them (if they attacked with a weapon).
- On a success, they pull free, but their movement speed is halved until the end of their next turn as Titanfang’s force lingers.
2. Unyielding Stance (Passive)
- You cannot be knocked prone unless you choose to fall.
- Your movement speed cannot be reduced by nonmagical means.
- If you fail a Strength saving throw, you may reroll it once per long rest.
- If you are grappling a creature, you may wield a two-handed weapon in one hand without penalty.
3. The Grip of the Unbroken (Passive)
- While grappling a creature, they take 1d8 bludgeoning damage at the start of their turn as Titanfang’s grip crushes them.
- You may disarm a creature as part of an attack, using the same DC as Instinctive Guard.
- If you successfully disarm a creature, you may immediately make a melee attack with their weapon against them as a free action.
4. Earthshatter Strike (1/Short or Long Rest, Action)
You slam your fist into the ground, releasing a titanic shockwave of force in a 10-foot radius.
- All creatures in range must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your Strength modifier + proficiency bonus).
- On a failure, they take 4d6 force damage and are knocked prone.
- On a success, they take half damage and remain standing.
- The ground fractures, creating difficult terrain in the area until the start of your next turn.
5. Indomitable Challenge (1/Long Rest, Bonus Action)
For 1 minute, Titanfang awakens, its ancient power surging through you:
- Your AC increases by 2.
- Your movement cannot be reduced or stopped by magical effects.
- You may make opportunity attacks against creatures that move within 10 feet of you (instead of just leaving your reach).
- Once during your turn, you may use Shockwave of the Fallen Tyrant without expending its normal use if you successfully grapple or disarm a creature.
