Weapon (greatsword), legendary (requires attunement by a In order to be attuned to the wielder it must have been bestowed the sword by the previous wielder or Tiamat herself.)

Zikarzath is a sentient greatsword the was forged in the fires of Avernus and made from a mixture of dragon scales and infernal iron. It serves as the prison for the red dragon traitor Zikarzath. the blade is twisted and jagged and in the pommel it holds one of Zikarzath's eyes. While Wielding the sword it grants +2 to attack and damage rolls and resistance to fire.

Sentience

Zikarzath is a greatsword granted by the dragon goddess Tiamat to her general Arkhan the cruel. She tasked arkhan with finding a suitable wielder for it to be her emissary in the material plane. Imprisoned within the sword is a Lawful Evil Red Dragon named Zikarzath. Tiamat imprisoned him within the sword as a slight for attempting to usurp her rule.

It has an Intelligence of 22, a Wisdom of 18, and a charisma of 24, and has hearing and truesight out to 120ft.

The sword can speak read and understand common and draconic. and can speak telepathically to its wielder within 120ft his voice is a deep growl.

The sword has 3 charges You can use your action to expend 1 of the charges to cast Fear (DC21) lasting 1 minute no concentration required, or expend 2 charges to cast Fire Shield (fire only) lasting 10 minutes. The sword regains all charges daily at dawn.

Anytime during your turn the sword can choose to launch a fireball (DC21) (This is NOT a power you can activate.) The sword pays no heed to anyone but the wielder when using this ability. The sword will NOT harm the wielder with this ability. Once this power is used it cannot be used again until the next dawn.

Zikarzath's Personality

Zikarzath seeks destruction in Tiamats name in hopes that she will free him from his prison. He falsely thinks that by carrying out the goddess deeds that she will release him amd he does not know that his body was used to forge the sword. He holds an ill grudge against Arkhan the cruel seeing him as Tiamats favorite pet. He also views himself as better than anyone because he is a dragon even if he is imprisoned. His ultimate goal is freedom and he is willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

Freeing Zikarzath

Zikarzath believes Tiamat is the only one who can free him but this is untrue. if he finds out that his freedom is possible without Tiamat then he will attempt to bargain with the wielder to help in his freedom and will honor and deal made to accomplish this.

Zikarzath can be freed in 2 ways

1) True Resurrection has a 1% chance of freeing Zikarzath by restoring his body.

2) A deity can free him by breaking the blade and restoring his body. Tiamat does not have to be the one to do this.

When released the blade disintegrates and he appears in an unoccupied space as close to the sword as possible.
