Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement by a Elf or Half-Elf of Chaotic Good Alignment with a Strength score of 18 or higher)

The Warblade, or Aryvelahr Kerym in Elvish, is one of the three missing elfblades forged in the ancient times of Cormanthyr lost to history. It along with its sister blades were lost around the time of Myth Drannor's fall. Since then, many elves have undertaken perilous journeys to recover these artifacts to no avail. Should an adventurer manage to recover one of these blades and return them to the elves of Cormanthyr, they would earn the everlasting friendship of the elven people and their thanks. All three elfblades are selective of their wielders with their own unique requirements and punishments, but the blades share in common that their wielder must be of the good alignment and at least 14th level.

The Warblade is a longsword that shines like polished silver, remaining perfectly reflective no matter what punishment it endures. Blue and silver flames lick incessantly along the blade, quillions, and pommel, and they harmlessly surround the wielder's hands whenever the blade is drawn. At the seat of the blade is an Elven rune meaning "weapon", which is commonly used as a sword mark.

The Warblade, like its sister blades, is incredibly selective with its choice of wielder. The first requirement is that the wielder must be of elven lineage, and it prefers those who are of the chaotic good alignment. The potential wielder must undergo a blade-rite, a sacred ritual that tests the candidate in three trials: talent, mind, and heart. Should the candidate fail, the Warblade will expel the user and any other creatures and objects near it within a 10 feet emanation, dealing 6d10 force damage and pushing everything 10 feet back. If the candidate is a non-elf or of any evil alignment, then the Warblade will also relentlessly attack them for 2d6 rounds. The Warblade has a +12 to attack, 5 ft. range, and deals 10 (1d10 + 5) slashing and 5 (1d10) force damage, with a 30 ft. flying (hover) speed when pursuing non-elves and evil alignment creatures in this manner.

Should the wielder pass, they automatically become attuned to this weapon. Once a person is attuned to the Warblade in this manner, it remains bound to the character permanently until their death, they commit a grievous sin against the elf people or their alignment, or they willing relinquish the Warblade.

The Warblade has the following properties when attuned to this weapon.

  • Beacon. The wielder can use a bonus action to cause the item to shed bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet, or to extinguish the light.
  • Longevity. When first attuned to the Warblade, the wielder's age is returned to their youth and physical prime. Afterwards, the wielder ages only 1 year for every 2 years that pass while they are in possession of the Warblade.
  • Magic Weapon. You gain a +3 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls made with the sword, which scores a Critical Hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20.
  • Returning. So long as the wielder and the Warblade are on the same plane of existence, as a free action the wielder can summon the blade to their hand regardless of distance and physical barriers. Wards, Antimagic Field, and other magical barriers interfere at the DM's discretion.
  • Sentience. The Warblade is a sentient weapon with of Chaotic Good alignment an Intelligence of 16, a Wisdom of 10, and a Charisma of 18.
  • Spellcasting. The Warblade grants the following spells to it's wielder to use, no Material components required.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.

Notes: Bonus: Magic, Elf or Half-Elf of Chaotic Good Alignment with a Strength score of 18 or higher, Versatile, Sap
