Weapon (longbow), uncommon (requires attunement by a By a Rogue, Fighter, Ranger or Warlock.)

Forged from the curved horns of a young red dragon and strung with tendon drawn from its throat, this longbow radiates a quiet, dangerous heat. Even at rest, the weapon seems to breathe—as though embers smolder within its frame. The grip bears the faint imprint of claw scars, marks from the beast’s dying thrash. When the string is pulled taut, some swear they can hear the echo of the dragon’s final roar.

This is not a weapon of stealth or grace. It is a weapon of wrath, of fire reclaimed, of vengeance made manifest.

Socket One: Young Red Dragon Fire Gland

Upon attunement, the bearer must choose between taming the dragon or setting it free. This choice determines how the fire gland manifests its power and cannot be changed unless the weapon is reforged.

  • Tamed Dragon: Every arrow fired from Wyvernfire deals an additional 1d6 fire damage.

  • Free Dragon: On a natural 20 to hit, the arrow transforms mid-flight into a miniature fireball. The arrow still hits the target as a critical hit, and the fireball explodes on impact:

    • The target takes normal crit damage from the arrow.

    • All creatures within 20 feet of the impact must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 8d6 fire damage on a failed save or half as much on a success. This fireball damage is treated as a normal hit, not a critical hit.

Socket Two: Empty

This socket may only be filled with materials related to fire-aligned or wyvern-type creatures.

Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
