I notice that this item shows as requiring an action to activate on the character sheet, but the description says it's a bonus action.

This could really be amusing with Gauntlets of Ogre Power, and Thorn Whip on an Alchemist ARtificer.

I solved this by creating a homebrew version of the ring and the jump spell, where the homebrew jump spell takes a bonus action to cast with range of "self" and removing the Somatic and Material components. I decided to keep the vocal component with a command word. 

14th level Armorer Artificer.

Three of your infusions are Belt of Hill Giant Strength, Boots of Speed, and this ring. One of your other infusions is Magical Strength on your armor.

First round of combat, you cast Haste on yourself and activate your boots as a bonus action. Second round, activate this ring.

You now have a base movement speed of 120 (probably). Your running long jump is 63 feet and high jump is 24 feet. Using your armor, you can give yourself +15 to an athletics check 4 times a day. You can standing long jump 30 feet away, punching enemies and taunting them with your thunder gauntlets as you go. With a bonus action attack plus Haste, you have four attacks.

Building a magic shop based around weaker or unpredictable items created by apprentices.  I'm offering one to my 5th level players at a major discount, but it has only 1 charge per day, and they can spend the rest of the price later if they want to shore up the enchantment.  You want goggles for darkvision?  Nope, unpredictable ones that change your vision based on a random roll. Stuff like that.  So, yes, I guess I introduced a paywall to 5e. Sorry!
