“Slaadpole” was right there! Also very curious to learn more about these creepy crawlies 😅
they say on a tiktok add it can dig throw creatures lol
Is the intent of having this be a warlock familiar to allow you to have a Red/Blue Slaad Servant?!
Hope so hope they add this feature
Now I can create a He Who Fights With Monsters imitation character. This little guy will be Colin. Colin's a good boy, definitely not a world-devouring apocalypse worm.
now we need a Gorden
It shocks me that all the other Warlock familiars have something that helps them feel more unique (Skeletons have ranged weapons, Pseudodragon has its sting, Sphinx of Wonder can use a reaction to add 2 to an abillity check/saving throw) but Slaad Tadpole doesn't really have anything. You could argue that it has 10ft of burrow, but compare that to the Quasit's ability to shapechange into a bat that can fly or a centipede that can climb. I wish it had just a little bit more flavor!
I think it's just blue slaads. Red slaads are the only ones that make tadpoles. If that doesn't make sense, yes that's the point. They're slaadi.
I do definitely see your point, but tbh, any amount of character options that lets you access a burrow speed is much appreciated. I think it's literally just druids and slaadpoles. More flavor needed? Absolutely. But a great addition nonetheless.
YESSSSSSSS GENIUS BEFORE I HAD TO USE THE STINKING APOCALYPSE PRINCE SWARM THING. Also good taste in books!
now there is debate on whether these lil guys have warlock familiar there way into a parties arsenal with a full ass blue slaad, however a fun idea as a middle ground would be that once the tadpole completes the transformation it aint ur familiar anymore so it could in theory murder you if it wanted to reproduce. A simple solution goes as follows- slip baby into a guard's soup, wait 16 hours, let it kill everyone in the tower/crastle ur infiltrating, then handle any remaining slaad. Though you do run the risk of setting off a mass infection but that's what morally dubious warlocks are for.
Unless they updated the lore Red Slaad Make Blue Slaad and Blue Slaad Make Red. Both can make Green Slaad deepening on how magically inclined that the individual is.
But yeah looking at the statblock they seem to be a good minion! I'd be fine with just a Red one (weaker one) that is neutered via its claws or not cause that'd be a cool downside having made more Slaad that aren't on your side and run rampant if you get rid of the Body. Also having make a new One would be pretty fun rp cause you need a living humanoid to make a new one and they take about a day to fully form.
At Higher levels DM's could let you get different colored Slaad like a Green one at or after level 10 (still meeting the requirements of needing a Magic person to do so)
If you can't get a Colored Slaad via this Familar then there's no reason that this should even be an option!
I want to eat it >:3
Wait, I didn't know both could make green slaad. Ig that makes sense though, but we're talking about chaos frogs, so that's suspicious.
