Petrifying Bite. Melee Attack Roll: +3, reach 5 ft. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) Piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it is subjected to the following effect. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 11. First Failure: The target has the Restrained condition. The target repeats the save at the end of its next turn if it is still Restrained, ending the effect on itself on a success. Second Failure: The target has the Petrified condition, instead of the Restrained condition, for 24 hours.
AC is incorrect, it currently says 15 but should be 11.
I suspect it was accidentally set to the AC of the Cockatrice Regent that's on the same page of the new MM.
It would be good to have the shared Cockatrices description before the regular Cockatrice description here as well. That should be:
Cockatrices combine the features of irate roosters and starving reptiles. They petrify those they bite, their slightest peck turning their prey to stone.
I actually like the old artwork more. Looked way scarier. Still a nice picture. Love the petrified farmer.
4 ac seems like an error. If not, well, go stone chicken. Lost 5 hp. Cant be petrified anymore.
Since nothing more changed the ac seems like a misstake. A fun lil monster
Time to kill this guy and make a McCockatrice sandwich.
Does the victim of the petrifying bite having the restrained condition after the first failure imply that the cockatrice holds onto them with its beak?
It's most likely intended to be that they start turning to stone, not that the birb is holding them.
