Traits
Training. The commoner has proficiency in one skill of the DM’s choice and has Advantage whenever it makes an ability check using that skill.
Actions
Club. Melee Attack Roll: +2, reach 5 ft. Hit: 2 (1d4) Bludgeoning damage.
I just think it's funny how instead of deciding that they have an Unarmed Strike as an attack, I can now imagine every single person in the world to walk around with some sort of Club. It might be a genuine weapon, a table leg, a cool stick they found, a sheathed sword that they cannot get unstuck, or a sock full of coins, who knows, go wild DMs. :D
I think its easier to put Club (1d4) as their attack simply because "Improvised Weapon" seems sillier though its the same equivalent. Obviously not every unnamed NPC Commoner in any settlement is going to be walking around with a blackjack strapped to their belts; but I assure you that unnamed NPC Commoner Cook -- who is simply making {Meat} Pies -- will have access to a rolling pin when the random PC decides to sneak into the kitchen at the Inn in the middle of the night to pilfer from the pantry.
Villagers: "We're going to have to ask you to leave our village now." (All 300 of them pull out an identical looking club in sync.)
When they say "Resurrectionist" do they mean those guys that would dig up corpses and sell them to med schools?
Nothing to say here except that the artwork is very nice
I would give these guys species features, like a Dragonborn's Breath Weapon and Resistance or an Orc's Adrenalin Rush. Just gives them more flavour.
why arent these showing up in my encounter builder?
it really is, but why cant you get those wings? i want wings!
The winged individual pictured, I believe, is an Aasimar, so yeah, you can get those wings.
You apparently need 1270 commoners to kill a party of 4 level 20s
