Multiattack. The grick makes one Beak attack and one Tentacles attack.
Beak. Melee Attack Roll: +4, reach 5 ft. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) Piercing damage.
Tentacles. Melee Attack Roll: +4, reach 5 ft. Hit: 7 (1d10 + 2) Slashing damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it has the Grappled condition (escape DC 12) from all four tentacles.
Is that four grappled conditions?
I believe they worded it like that on purpose so you can't have the Grick grapple more than one creature at a time. So it's just one Grapple on one player.
Also, they took away its resistances and doubled its health. Interesting.
appears their second attack is no longer contingent on hitting with the tentacles, which I thought was dumb since it's beak attack never needed a creature to be grappled. glad they changed it
Never used the Gricks, but I love the crystalline artwork of the one in Phandelver and Below. Kind of sad that they didn't use it.
Health was doubled from 6d8 to 12d8, increasing from 27 to 54. Lost it's resistance to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing to compensate. Also gained proficiency in stealth to compensate for the loss of Stone Camouflage.
Multiattack was reworded from needing to hit the tentacles to hit a beak to just tentacles and beak. Beak's damage was increased from 5(1d6+2) to 9(2d6+2) piercing damage. Tentacles, however, were reduced from 9(2d6+2) to 7(1d10+2), which reduces the maximum damage from 14 to 12. However, tentacles automatically grapple if the target is medium or smaller.
Gricks are strange for me, as I don't use them. However, looking at my fusion, I think I'll start.
Fusion time! Give them back their resistance and Stone Camouflage and increase the tentacle's damage. Small but mighty beak worm right there.
