We finally got hippos!!
Why in the world is it so strong? I would understand it if it was a CR 2 or 3, but it's stronger that an elephant. Again I know that they are really scary irl, but not as scary as an elephant
They really are that strong.
Because Hippopotamus bully both adolescent and adult salt water crocodiles, lions, water buffaloes and can make rhinos (that charge anything and everything) back down. Hippos also cause 500+ human deaths annual and will capsize boats. So they ARE scarier than any elephant.
They are defnitley one of if not the scariest animals on the earth, but I just don't understand why they are more tanky than a elephant which is roughly twice its size. The damage I could understand, but not the HP difference. Also to the Rhinos, they are frickin stupid, if not provoked they can easily be scaredd to back down, especiall by hippos.
I see your point, but scariness and human deaths are not equal to sheer strenght and endurance.
Rhinos are not stupid. They cannot easily be scared to back down. That's the opposite of what Rhinos are. They are nearly blind and attack each other. They don't even back down to elephants. Might want to brush up on your animal facts. An elephant is not even close to being twice the size of a hippo lmao.
While a Hippo is 5'2 in height at the shoulders, they are about 11 feet long and weigh 4000 pounds. The average Asian elephant is 8'4 and weigh about 3200 pounds. Less than hippos, in terms of weight and muscle when compared to the hippo pound for pound. Which is probably why they're more tanky. Also elephants don't fight fully grown salt water crocodiles.
Okay my bad with the rhinos, I don't really remember where I saw it but i guess that was wrong.
However the weight category is tricky, since it is clear if the dnd elephants are rather african or asian. If they are african, they are way way heavier. The average male african elephant can weight easily more than 10000 pounds. I think its save to say that a hippo would be stronger than an asian elephant but weaker than an african.
If I got any facts wrong, please let me know.
AC should be way higher
They are absolutely scarier than an elephant.
They have a pretty thick hide, could be why they're so tanky.
I think the AC is appropriate, as it is th same AC as ring mail, a heavy armor. As for their health pool and damage, I do not questtion that they should hit like truck, but I just don't see it dealing more damage than a elephant, which is way heavier and a bit faster. Like I said previously, they are defnitley one of the most scariest animals, but their scaryness or aggresion does not change the fact, that elephants are just larger and heavier.
