Abyssal Glaive. Melee Attack Roll: +6, reach 10 ft. Hit: 10 (1d12 + 4) Slashing damage plus 10 (3d6) Necrotic damage.
Gore (Recharge 5–6). Melee Attack Roll: +6, reach 5 ft. Hit: 18 (4d6 + 4) Piercing damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature and the minotaur moved 10+ feet straight toward it immediately before the hit, the target takes an extra 10 (3d6) Piercing damage and has the Prone condition.
totally buffed!!
I am surprised its a Monstrosity and not a Fiend like the 2024 Gnolls
If I were to guess, it's a monstrosity because Baphomet claims to have created minotaurs. Compare to Gnolls: "The first gnolls arose from hyenas that fed on flesh tainted by the Abyss."
Why no Labyrinthine Recall?
They got rid of features like Labyrinth Recall or Keen Hearing in favour of just giving proficiency in perception or (in this case) survival.
Thanks for the clarity. Gotta say, as much I like the new edition, the loss of these traits is a bummer. Makes the game feel less flavorful.
No more regular minotaur? Just a Minotaur of Baphoment? Eh...
Obviously got a name change. Gained one hit die, increasing the health from 76 to 85.
Gained expertise and proficiency in Survival. Lost Reckless and Labyrinthine Recall.
Lost the Greataxe, gained the Abyssal Glaive. Used to deal 17(2d12+4) slashing, now deals 10(1d12+4) slashing plus 10(3d6) necrotic. That doesn't make sense. Weapon damage die are increased accordingly based on size, and you're telling me that this glaive doesn't?
New Gore has the Charge trait reworked into it. Used to deal 13(2d8+4) piercing, now deals 18(4d6+4) piercing. Charge is now an automatic prone and deals an extra 10(3d6) piercing, used to deal an extra 9(2d8) piercing and a DC 14 Strength save against prone. Is also now a recharge, which makes no sense. Other similar monsters don't have this as a recharge, so why does the Minotaur of Baphomet? Fusion must save the day again, it seems.
Fusion time! Bring back Reckless and Labyrinthine Recall. Lore-wise, it makes sense. Increase the Abyssal Glaive's slashing damage to 17(2d12+4) as by the enlarged weapon rules. Remove the charge on Gore. A Minotaur can charge whenever it pleases, so it makes no sense as to why this one can't.
As much as I like the new version, this thing has no real lore.
