Homebrew Zombie Species Details

You play simply as a reanimated human being, decaying accordingly.

Zombie Traits

It’s hard to make generalizations about zombies as their still kind of human, but your zombies character has these traits.

The whole being dead thing

Your creature type is considered to be both humanoid and undead. You don't have to eat, drink, or breathe. Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. You do not dream in this state and retain a limited awareness of your surroundings, giving you disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks

Undead changes

Your constitution increases by 2. As your new body can withstand more than the average solid flesh of a living person.

Unsettling presence

Wether you’re viewed as scary, disturbing, gross, etc. The living are wary of you and tend to shy away from your rotting flesh and lack of running blood. You gain proficiency in intimidation

Non Appetizing Meat

Your body is rotting, meaning it doesnt taste good. (consult with your DM if this affects any encounters)

Ability Score Increase

Your ability scores each increase by 1.

Age

Humans reach adulthood in their late teens and live less than a century.

Size

Humans vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Humans typically learn the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, and so on.
