Homebrew Shadowstalkers Species Details

Shadowstalkers are large, dangerous, and intelligent creatures that stalk through the shadows of the underdark, deep caves, dark caverns, and even ancient ruins. they posses two pairs of arms one pair at the start of their incredibly long neck, and the other directly below their massive, solid rib cage. Their lower pair of arms also function as wings, they have a dragon-like wing structure on their bottom arms. They have a total of six eyes and on the tip of their nose protrudes a long, pointed horn that they use to skewer prey. When the horn is exposed to elemental energy like fire, lightning, and other elements, their horn becomes infused with the element. The elemental charge goes away over time but is still deadly without an elemental charge. Their mouths are filled with fangs. While the teeth that are visible are spaced far apart, the space in between the large teeth are filled with small, infinitely serrated teeth that hurt like hell to be bitten by. On the top of their head is covered from the start of their horn to the back of their head in blade-like scales that protrude like tiny, bladed horns. These scales can be fired at will and regrow rapidly. Despite their appearance, Shadowstalkers are intelligent, cultured, and, most of the time, well-mannered creatures with their own history, traditions, arts, and even their own language. Most shadowstalkers are heliophobic, meaning they are afraid of the light. but some don't mind, and sometimes even like the light. Members of this subspecies are called lightstalkers. Shadowstalkers have a black or obsidian blue hide and their blade-scales start matching their hide and slowly fade into purple at the tips. Their claws are usually a bleached white or pale grey and fade into obsidian blue at the tips. Female shadowstalkers are often larger than the males.
