Homebrew Shadow Species Details
The Shadow Genasi is a rare race that lives in the shadow of the people who surround it. Its manifested form looks almost like a black mist with a solid form. Shadow Genasi are known for being trouble makers and good spies due to their unnatural ability to become part of the shadows around them, due to this most Shadow Genasi are evil or neutral.
Shadow Traits
Shadow genasi have an extraordinary ability to become part of and even use shadows to their advantage, They can make weapons and even solidify small amounts of shadow for some time.Racial spells
You know the cantrip Eldritch Blast and the spell Create Darkness
Become shadow
Shadow Genasi can quickly disappear into the shadows around them by rolling a Con save (dc 13) on a success they easily become part of the shadows around them You may use this ability 3 times/day and it last for rounds equal to your level. When in the shadow your movement speed is doubled and you count as invisible in magical and nonmagical darkness. Due to your unnatural form, you cant carry normal gear, due to this Shadow Genasi have learned how to bend shadow into solid forms such as weapons and other small items. When taking a short rest you can choose to become part of the shadows around you and gain the effects of a long rest instead. When in a solid form you can eat and perform basic actions but still cannot hold nonmagic items. You can wear light armor
Dark vision
Due to being made out of darkness you can see up to 60ft in the darkness
Ability score increase
You gain a +1 in Con and a +2 in Dex
