Homebrew Fey'ri Species Details
"Fey'ri, or demonfey, were not a true elven subrace. They were to elves as tieflings were to humans and tanarukkswere to orcs. The fey'ri were the result of interbreeding between elves and tanar'ri in an attempt to strengthen the sun elf bloodline." -
—Races of Faerûn
"In the former elven realm of Arcorar (located in what would become Cormanthyr), House Dlardrageth began summoning demons to produce half-fiend offspring in a bid to strengthen their bloodline and succeeded and were killed by other elves, who were enraged over this practice."
—Lords of Darkness
Fey'ri society is very close-knit. They are all close relations, and so each fey'ri has a very good idea of how each of his or her family members would react to a situation. Yet they have a subtle loathing for each other, both because their elven nature rejects the taint of their kin and because their demonic ancestors are so chaotic and rebellious that they find it difficult to work together. As a result, fey'ri society is based on power and fear - power to make your commands obeyed, fear that your superiors could destroy you if you fail to comply.
Abyssal Bloodline
The result of four noble houses of sun elves breeding with demons in an attempt to strengthen their bloodline, fey'ri are a type of planetouched that breeds true among their own kind.
Marked by their fiendish blood, fey'ri are unique among most planetouched in that they have a self-sustaining community, so they are raised among their own kind. Because of this, young fey'ri do not suffer the feelings of ostracism that other planetouched do despite growing up among creatures with strong fiendish blood. Most fey'ri are evil, but a few are able to shrug off their fiendish influence and emulate some small part of the innately good elvish nature.
Fey'ri are mainly the descendants of sun elves and demons (usually succubi in male or female form). Having bred with these demons among their own kind, fey'ri are a distinct race and share the same common fiendish traits. in general form they resemble sun elves, although all have large bat-like wings. They all have one or more unusual features reflecting their fiendish heritage. These features may include one or more of the following: fiery red ayes, fine scales all over their skin, long pointed tails, bat-like ears, deep red skin, or other similar trait.
Fey'ri are obviously different from normal elves and would quickly be killed by most other elves if discovered. Luckily for them, their demonic bloodline gives them several abilities, including the ability to change their shape. Thus they can pass freely among other creatures without causing alarm.
It is believed that there may be other types fey'ri other than those allied with House Dlardrageth, both in Faerun as well as other planes of existence, but since the likelihood is small, such an individual would be essentially vey rare outside these four elven houses.
Life of Revenge
Most fey'ri live for revenge. They feel wronged by other elves, and superior to all other races (as befits their lineage, which ties them to the ancient elven kingdoms that predate human civilization).
While their plans for revenge unfold, they wish to restore the glory of the elven empires with themselves at their head, not realizing that their fiendish taint has corrupted the sun elf qualities that they prize the most. Individual fey'ri comply with these goals, knowing that their half-fiend rulers are too powerful to challenge and feeling that they themselves have been punished unfairly by the moon elves with their too-long magical imprisonment. The fey'ri also suffer from unfamiliarity with the changes to the world and are still learning about its current state. A fey'ri is patient, calculating, and suspicious, but their fiendish blood makes them prone to underserved acts of cruelty and rage.
Fey'ri Names
Fey'ri were born of elves and still keep strong to many of their traditions including naming. Fey'ri are considered children until they declare themselves adults, some time after their hundredth birthday, and before this period they are called by child names. On declaring adulthood, a fey'ri selects an adult name, although those who knew him or her as a youngster might continue to use the child name. Each fey'ri’s adult name is a unique creation, though it might reflect the names of respected individuals or other family members. Little distinction exists between male names and female names; the groupings here reflect only general tendencies. In addition, every fey'ri bears a family name, typically a combination of Elvish words. The few fey'ri who travel among humans may translate their family names into Common, but others retain the Elvish version.

DISDAiN AND MISTRUST
Fey'ri of Dlardrageth wish to recruit more sun elves into their breeding program, but hold no love for any other kind of elf, including drow. They have a sun elf's disdain for all other humanoid races, regardless of philosophy or politics, and particularly see humans as pretentious upstarts that have only acquired civilization on the ruins of the elven kingdoms. Fey'ri are indifferent toward genasi. Their demonic blood recoils from the celestially tainted presence of Aasimar, making them natural enemies. They see Tieflings as interesting potential allies, less worthy than a Fey'ri or a sun elf, but certainly more valuable than a normal human.
Renegade fey'ri form their own opinions of other races, but their views are colored by their families' prejudice and they have difficulty dealing with elves other than sun elves. Of all non elves, they feel closest to Tieflings, for they too know the touch of evil and the desire to live a life not defined by their heritage.

Size
Fey'ri are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet. In winged form your flying speed is 30 feet as well.
Darkvision

Abyssal Adaptability
Your abyssal heritage has the ability to adapt, manifesting in one of the following manners.
Choose one:
- Abyssal Resistance: You have resistance to fire damage.
- Two Forms: You can cast the alter self spell with the change appearance effect once per day.
When you reach 5th level, you can cast it twice, three times at 11th level and four times at 17th level.
Ancestral Legacy
Fey'ri all express some degree of both elvish and fiendish traits, though not all express them in the same manner. These traits are mutually exclusive.
Chose one of the following:
Abyssal Legacy: Traces of succubi ancestry in your lineage manifests in these traits.
- At 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast Charm Person spell on one humanoid you can see within 30 feet. The target must succeed a Wisdom saving throw, or be charmed by you.
- At 5th Level you gain the Draining Kiss ability. You may Kiss a creature charmed by you, (or any willing creature). The target must make a Constitution saving throw or take 3d6 necrotic damage, (in a manner similar to the Vampiric Touch spell), or half as much damage on a successful saving throw. You regain hit points equal to half the amount of necrotic damage dealt, and may attempt to continue draining the target in consecutive rounds, unless the target succeeds a Strength (Acrobatics check to break free (as well a a Wisdom check for charmed targets).
- At 12th level you gain the ability to cast Etherealness on yourself and magically enter the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa. Unlike the spell, however, you may only travel in any direction for up to a number of minutes equal to your Charisma ability modifier.

After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

This speed does not increase with normal movement. You are also able to use your wings to give a boost to your jumps. As an action, you can double your jump distance.
- At 6th level, your wings grow steadier and they can carry you for a short time per day.

However, these cursed elves did not merely flee and survive in the gloom of the deep, but flourished in it. Your work is amazing, I love this race so much I made one very similar but only for my group just so they can just look up and see my race the way I wanted it to be seen. I hope fey'ri end up in the books someday. <3 Have a perfect day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I put it together for one of my players who really liked the concept, and they're having a blast with it so far. Hope your group has a blast too! (:
Awesome work ^^
While I find this work incredibly good, I think the base race is way too powerful. Too many bonuses.
While this is in sync with previous editions, it hardly fits 5e's more balanced game :(
I love it!
