You transform a willing creature you touch, along with everything it's wearing and carrying, into a misty cloud for the duration. The spell ends if the creature drops to 0 hit points. An incorporeal creature isn't affected.
While in this form, the target's only method of movement is a flying speed of 10 feet. The target can enter and occupy the space of another creature. The target has resistance to nonmagical damage, and it has advantage on Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution saving throws. The target can pass through small holes, narrow openings, and even mere cracks, though it treats liquids as though they were solid surfaces. The target can't fall and remains hovering in the air even when stunned or otherwise incapacitated.
While in the form of a misty cloud, the target can't talk or manipulate objects, and any objects it was carrying or holding can't be dropped, used, or otherwise interacted with. The target can't attack or cast spells.

I'm playing a spores druid soon and I'm just gonna cast this, hide in a jar, and have the high Strength character hurl me over any high walls we encounter. Master of infiltration.
It’s a great scape route. When shit hits the fam (the building collapsing, a lot of enemies, your re in a cage, etc...) just turns into mist and passes trough a crack in the wall.
it is horrible because your just a cloud for an hour
rgrf
When it says resistant to non magical attacks does this imply non magical attacks as in if I hit with a torch it takes half fire damage but if I hit with a fire bolt it takes full?
Why is the flying speed only 10 feet?
Red Dragon got out of my Forcecage with this. Not fun. But 3rd level spell that can counter a 7th....
It says "willing creature".
Counterspell is also a 3rd level spell
Counterspell range 60ft... Red Dragon breath range 60ft.. Forcecage was in the "Bar" configuration.... I was taking cover and did not "see" the casting, because one breath hit was all I could take.
Keep a box of matches handy?
My Dungeon Master straight up said that a Oni used this and I had to search it. I am a Level 4 Human, Fighter Class and there is a Level 6 Wood Elf Ranger and a Level 4 Kitsune Wizard on my team. We are straight up gonna fail at this...
you can NEVER concentrate on 2 spells at once!!! come on people, basic rules here
.
You are entirely correct in that statement; however, while the gaseous form spell requires concentration, the magic item potion of gaseous form (which appears in the Basic Rules and the Dungeon Master's Guide) explicitly states that a creature that drinks the potion "gain[s] the effect of the gaseous form spell for 1 hour (no concentration required)". If a class feature, magic item, or other effect allows you to cast a spell and specifies that you do not need to concentrate on the spell, you don't need to concentrate on the spell. As such, a creature that is already maintaining concentration on another spell, such as call lightning, could drink a potion of gaseous form and gain its benefits while still maintaining concentration on the previously cast spell. The fact that exceptions supersede basic rules is itself a basic rule of D&D 5e.
if someone casts animate object on a rope could someone else cast gaseous form on the rope
Can you pop in and out of gaseous form for an hour, so long as you maintain concentration? Or does the spell end the first time you return to normal form?
Also, if the target was initially willing, but then wants to end the effect, can they do so, or can only the caster do that?
Maybe a tinder box it’s small fits in a pocket and provides a reliable source of smoldering coals. It’s not something that exists RAW but I would say it’s viable as most campaigns are set in a medieval time period where tinder boxes were common place
I’d just make it so the caster lights a match or something and takes some of the smoke from said fire to cast the spell. yes I realise I’m late lol
RAW the only way to end the spell is for 1) the caster to stop concentrating or 2) for the target to drop to 0 hit points. Both of those end the spell which would require an additional casting to go from corporeal form back to gaseous.
