You gain the ability to move or manipulate creatures or objects by thought. When you cast the spell, and as your action each round for the duration, you can exert your will on one creature or object that you can see within range, causing the appropriate effect below. You can affect the same target round after round, or choose a new one at any time. If you switch targets, the prior target is no longer affected by the spell.
Creature. You can try to move a Huge or smaller creature. Make an ability check with your spellcasting ability contested by the creature's Strength check. If you win the contest, you move the creature up to 30 feet in any direction, including upward but not beyond the range of this spell. Until the end of your next turn, the creature is restrained in your telekinetic grip. A creature lifted upward is suspended in mid-air.
On subsequent rounds, you can use your action to attempt to maintain your telekinetic grip on the creature by repeating the contest.
Object. You can try to move an object that weighs up to 1,000 pounds. If the object isn't being worn or carried, you automatically move it up to 30 feet in any direction, but not beyond the range of this spell.
If the object is worn or carried by a creature, you must make an ability check with your spellcasting ability contested by that creature's Strength check. If you succeed, you pull the object away from that creature and can move it up to 30 feet in any direction but not beyond the range of this spell.
You can exert fine control on objects with your telekinetic grip, such as manipulating a simple tool, opening a door or a container, stowing or retrieving an item from an open container, or pouring the contents from a vial.
Can I cast this to rip off one of the wings of a creature?
Like say a dragon or a demon/angel like big bad?
You move the whole creature, not just its wings. And if you choose to target an object, a part of a living creature is not considered an object.
Mega rip.
Literally. lmao. Ah well.
you can just cast Fly for that, better performance aswell
I high level lore bard could basically take any item from anyone with this. 20 CHA (+5), Jack of all trades (+2 when you get the spell, +3 at level 17), Glibness (can't roll less than a 15 on charisma checks) means your telekinesis check can't be less than 23. And if for some reason that is not enough, you can cutting words to reduce the opponent's strength check & use peerless skill to add to yours. Heavily resource intensive, but if you simply have to steal the caster's focus or some crazy weapon, doesn't this have to be your automatic win button?
can you use this to hit some one with the equivalent of 1000 pounds of force
Dming Ravenloft. Give this spell to Strahd. What a great way to take the amulet from the priest at or before final battle.
Remember that Eladrin and Shadarkai have the ability to switch out their Tool Proficiencies on a long rest.
"Today I feel like being a Master Carpenter!" *creates a wooden boat in ten minutes*
"Hmmmm, I wonder how we can bring all that adamantium out of this dungeon?" *has a long rest and turns it into a rolling cart*
"I sure wish I could make some extra coin but all I have is wheat..." *has a nap and wakes up with the skills to make Whiskey*
I have a question for all of you, what would upcasted telekinesis look like? hypothetically.
