You create a silver thread link between a humanoid target and a diamond, channeling necrotic forces to steal control over their soul and body. The target must make a Constitution saving throw, if failed they will gain disadvantage on all attacks towards other targets and advantage towards the caster as they fight for their escaping soul. A passed save does not allow the link to be made and the spell fails. If concentration is lost before the target falls, the thread backlashes at the caster for 2d8 necrotic damage. Once the target's hit points reaches 0 their soul become captured and darkens the diamond, allowing the you to sculpt their undead body.
This scuplted form uses the Undead Puppet stat block. Choose the creature’s form: Husk, Fetid, or Marrow. The puppet resembles an undead creature with the chosen form, which determines certain traits in its stat block. The puppet collapses when it drops to 0 hit points, when the soul is dismissed, or the diamond is destroyed. If the soul is freed through destruction, the violent release causes 2d8 necrotic damage within a 5-foot cube area. Otherwise whoever holds the black diamond may make a DC 10 arcana check to sever the silver thread to free the soul and clear the diamond, the original caster able to do so freely.
The puppet is an ally to you and your companions. In combat, the puppet shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don’t issue any, it takes the Dodge action and uses its move to avoid danger.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, use the higher level wherever the spell’s level appears in the stat block.

Ghoulish Stench (Fetid Only). Any creature, other than you, that starts its turn within 5 feet of the spirit must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or be poisoned until the start of its next turn.
Undead Fortitude (Husk Only). If damage reduces the husk to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is radiant or from a critical hit. On a success, the husk drops to 1 hit point instead.
Actions
Multiattack. The puppet makes a number of attacks equal to half this spell’s level (rounded down).
Chilling Grasp (Husk Only). Melee Spell Attack: your spell attack modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 1d8 + 3 + the spell’s level cold damage, and the creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be frightened of the undead until the end of the target’s next turn.
Crypt Bolt (Marrow Only). Ranged Spell Attack: your spell attack modifier to hit, range 150 ft., one target. Hit: 2d6 + 3 + the spell’s level necrotic damage and the target can’t regain hit points until the start of the Puppet's next turn.
Putrid Claw (Fetid Only). Melee Weapon Attack: your spell attack modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d4 + 3 + the spell’s level slashing damage. If the target is poisoned, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or be paralyzed until the end of its next turn.
