You create a magical effect within range. Choose the effect from the options below. If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time.
Sensory Effect. You create an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor.
Fire Play. You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire.
Clean or Soil. You instantaneously clean or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot.
Minor Sensation. You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour.
Magic Mark. You make a color, a small mark, or a symbol appear on an object or a surface for 1 hour.
Minor Creation. You create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image that can fit in your hand. It lasts until the end of your next turn. A trinket can deal no damage and has no monetary worth.

Posted Apr 14, 2025"You create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image"
Which is it? non-magical trinkey (e.g.spoon, or perhaps a key) or illusory image? In other words, is the created object solid or ephemeral, mere illusion with no substance?

Posted Apr 15, 2025It can be either of those things; that's why it says "or".

Posted Apr 24, 2025Thank you for the comment. It hasn't disappeared under the 2024 rules. Looking at the link, I wonder if it can still be selected as a cantrip spell for Artificer, Druid, and Warlock? It's not on the Druid cantrip spell list, so I thought something would be substituted.

Posted Apr 25, 2025Magic Stone is on the Druid list. If you don't see it, it may just be that you don't have access to the book it comes from (Xanathar's Guide to Everything) or you don't have "Expanded Rules" turned on for your character.

Posted Apr 26, 2025Thank you for your advice. I made a bard of the College of Dance, and I was having trouble fighting barehanded, so I was thinking of a solution. I remembered the druid spells and referred to the cantrip spell list in the PHB 2024.

Posted May 10, 2025If you for some reason would lack your arcane/divine focus or component pouch, could create the material components for spells that don't require any monetary value, like a bit of fleece for minor illusion? Would be useless in most circumstances, but if you are locked up in cell somewhere and stripped of your equipment or loose you focus/component, that would be really cool

Posted May 14, 2025I think under RAW probably not, since these are illusions and not the actual thing, but it's something some DMs might very well allow just because it's creative and interesting.

Posted May 18, 2025Hey! Referring to the Minor Creation- do we have any sense of how sturdy the item is allowed to be for its 6 second existence ? There's a common idea of creating a key but i'm thinking that the force applied to the item that is required to actually turn a key within a lock is not nothing.

Posted May 20, 2025The spell doesn't say anything about the item being any more or less sturdy than it normally would be.
D&D rules generally don't make any attempt to directly model physics principles like how sturdy a key is.

Posted Jul 1, 2025Also, not trying to "erm, actually" you, but a nonmagical trinket created by Minor Creation would last for 12 seconds, since it lasts until the end of your next turn! For some reason, I always imagine this function being used for conjuring ✧Wizard Cutlery✧ during mealtime. Like, why would you EVER use a barely-washed public fork when you can create your own magic fork ?
