Ten berries appear in your hand and are infused with magic for the duration. A creature can take a Bonus Action to eat one berry. Eating a berry restores 1 Hit Point, and the berry provides enough nourishment to sustain a creature for one day.
Uneaten berries disappear when the spell ends.

When does the spell end if the duration is instantaneous?
Do the berries disappear immediately now? Or do they last until dispel magic is cast on them..?
The spell either ends immediately, or never, depending on interpretation.
My question exactly!

This is a completely useless spell based on RAW. The magic only last for the duration but the duration is “instantaneous”.
the magic is gone before you can even eat a berry.
I like the Bonus Action to eat one berry, but what about two berries? This was unclear in 2014, and it's worse now.
And yeah, the duration doesn't make sense with, "Uneaten berries disappear when the spell ends."
RAW, this spell does nothing now. Love it.
Duration should be 24 hours, when I actually went into the online PHB it listed it as 24 hours for duration.
Just a data entry bug for the “free version”
So the berries disappear the instant the spell is cast? How are you supposed to eat them? Why does WotC hate Druids so much? They were one of the least played classes at the table and these changes make them so much worse.
I freaking despise this spell. Why is there even a Malnutrition mechanic if this spell and others like it exist??
I don't ban it, instead I have a house rule stating that any character that consumes their daily nutritional needs through a magical source does not regain spell slots during a short or long rest. Allows the players a choice when facing a survival situation. Risk of Exhaustion or loss of spell slots.
Remember, you still need water as of the 2014 edition.
I once had someone argue to the point of ridiculousness that nourishment included water because you need it to live. By that logic, it should provide air for a day too.
This sounds like a great way to suck the fun out of a game.
PHB says this has a range of Self, not Touch. Pity, I was looking forward to casting this through my rabbit familiar and having them "deposit" healing berries for my allies.
On the plus side, Self means level 15+ Beast Master Rangers can basically twin-spell Goodberry through their Share Spells feature, and if anyone needs good news right now it's Rangers.
Elementalism!
Beckon Water. You create a spray of cool mist that lightly dampens creatures and objects in a 5-foot Cube. Alternatively, you create 1 cup of clean water either in an open container or on a surface, and the water evaporates in 1 minute.
It's clear that you can eat only one berry during the Bonus Action. Should you be able to eat more with an Action? Sure. How many? That's up to your DM. I'd probably allow all 10 since I use the home-rule that if you spend an Action to drink a potion of healing, you get max hp back.
Yeah. Punishing a player for taking a spell that is specifically designed to be used this way makes the game less fun. What’s next? If they use magical healing they don’t get to take hit dice later? Just let your players have fun, who cares if they use a RAW spell to do what the spell does. Way more broken spells than this that I still allow <looks at Silvery Barbs>.
Because it takes up a known spell and uses a spell slot.
Players could choose to rely on other means to feed themselves and by doing so are able to know a different spell and have an extra spell slot.
Your house rule would likely mean that, if this spell is used at all, it is mostly used to sustain non-casters whilst keeping the party's rations for the casters. At most a caster might eat berries if they need a tiny bit of healing, but likely still eat rations. No regaining of hit points is a massive penalty and just really sucks the fun out of the game, and I'd personally pass on a game if such house rules were added.
This is busted if you take 1 level in Life Cleric for a healing bonus. I wonder if it's possible to shove them all in your mouth at once. If not, it's still 4 hit points per berry and good for out of combat healing if you can't take a rest.
Druids also get Healing Spirit.
