Posted Oct 11, 2024Would you be able to teleport to the other side of a window that you can see through with this? Or would this fall under the restrictions of A Clear Path to a Target? (Despite seeing the desired location, you can't teleport there because the location is under Total Cover.)

Posted Oct 12, 2024I don't know the answer to that question but I did use it to teleport into a room while looking through a keyhole. Might be up to your DM and how your party likes to play.

Posted Oct 16, 2024I would not say that a transparent window provides Total Cover.

Posted Dec 5, 2024Rules as Written? Yes, it's a bonus action used to exit the threatened space so it triggers an attack of opportunity. Personally as a DM? No, its instantaneous movement so there's no time to react.

Posted Dec 5, 2024Rules as Written? No, you would teleport next to the window rather than through it. Lore wise, the mist would strike the window and not be able to pass through it. Personally as a DM? I'd probably allow it as long as they weren't being ridiculous about it.

Posted Dec 18, 2024What are you talking about? Rules as written you don't trigger attacks of opportunity when you teleport.

Posted Dec 28, 2024that is correct, page 376 of the 2024 rulebook says "teleportation never provokes Opportunity Attacks"

Posted Jan 27, 2025Those all sound like interpretations. The spell has a rule for where you can teleport. It's "an unoccupied space you can see." Not what you can see through, or how big a window or keyhole or cave entrance needs to be. The only thing that's really up to the DM is how filthy the window is.

Posted Feb 15, 2025If the caster is shackled, would misty step allow them to teleport out of the shackles? Since there's only a vocal component, the shackles don't get in the way of casting, but would they teleport with the caster?

Posted Feb 19, 2025Depends on the type of shackles, I'd say. Manacles are considered worn equipment, just like armor, or a shield so they would transport with you. But shackles bolted into a wall could be considered as part of the environment, then it would depend on the DM.

Posted Feb 21, 2025As long as you can see an unoccupied space in range to teleport to, yes. Teleportation effects in general are a classic way to deal with problems like that.Edit: actually no, but for a different reason, see below

Posted Jul 11, 2025Gelatinous Cube specifically states that you can't cast spells with Verbal components when engulfed (presumably because you are suffocating). So, in that instance, you would not be able to cast Misty Step.

Posted Jul 14, 2025That's a very good point. You'd have to be a Sorcerer with Subtle Spell or something like that.
