When you cast this spell, you can turn fresh corpses within the spell's range into undead. These undead lose any spellcasting or legendary properties upon their creation, and gain the ability to understand one language you speak. You may create up to 4 undead whose combined CR is less than or equal to 2 from the following list, requiring an equal combined-CR worth of corpses to do so (e.g. You can turn one CR 1 Bear into four CR 1/4 Zombies). The CR of any undead created by this spell can never exceed your spellcasting modifier.
1/4 - Skeleton, Zombie
1/2 - Warhorse Skeleton
1 - Ghoul, Specter
2 - Ghast, Minotaur Skeleton, Ogre Zombie
3 - Deathlock Wight, Mummy, Sword Wraith Warrior, Wight
4 - Bone Naga, Deathlock, Flameskull
5 - Allip, Revenant, Vampire Spawn
6 - Bodak
On your turn, you can use a bonus action to control the undead who take their turn immediately after yours; if you fail to do so, they take the dodge action. You can give individual commands to each undead summoned from this spell as part of the bonus action, and they always follow their task until it is complete.
The undead remain for a number of hours equal to your proficiency bonus, and turn to dust once that time is concluded or if this spell is cast again. As an action, a creature can expend a spell to extend that time by 30 minutes for each of the spell's levels.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the combined CR limit increases by 1 and 1/2 for each slot level above 4th.
