Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Serpent are known for their precision and versatility in combat. They can strike at enemies from a distance to stay out of harm’s way, but are also deadly in close quarters.

Serpent's Coils

Starting at 3rd level, your martial arts has taught you techniques to wrestle with opponents. You gain proficiency with the Athletics skill or with one other skill of your choice if you already had it. When you attempt to grapple a creature, you can use your Dexterity instead of Strength for the ability check. Once per turn, you can deal an additional 1d4 damage to a creature grappled by you when you hit it with an attack. This increases to 1d6 at 11th level.

Lunging Strikes

At 3rd level, you can lunge at your enemies to strike from a distance. The range of your monk weapons and unarmed strikes increases by 5 feet when you take the attack action.

Serpentine Dodge

By 6th level, you have learned some defensive techniques to escape danger. When you are hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to spend 1 to 3 ki points, roll a number of Martial Arts die per ki point spent, and reduce the damage of that attack by the number rolled. You can then move up to half your movement speed without provoking an opportunity attack.

Body of the Snake

At 11th level, you have honed your ki to give yourself more of the snake’s abilities, enhancing your ability to escape danger and perceive the world around you. Opportunity attacks made against you have disadvantage. In addition, you have blindsight to a range of 10 feet, but not extending through total cover.

Blindsight Improvement

At 17th level, your blindsight increases to 30 feet.

Deadly Precision

At 17th level, you have mastered the art of targeting an opponent’s weak points. Your weapon attacks now score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20, or on a roll of 18-20 against a creature grappled by you.
