Base Class: Rogue
A nemesis does not need the biggest weapon or the greatest armor to be one of the deadliest men on the battlefield. All they need is for their enemy to make a mistake and open themselves up. A nemesis knows how turn grappling into a death sentence. They know how to intercept their enemies attacks, control their movements, throw them off their feet, and do whatever it takes to turn a formidable warrior into a defenseless one.
Subversive Strikes
Starting at 3rd level, when you sneak attack, you may choose to sacrifice 2d6 of sneak attack damage to perform a subversive strike. You can only use this feature once per turn.
- Clinch - Make a grapple or shove attempt at a creature within 5 feet.
- Stagger - The target has disadvantage on strength and dexterity checks made on its turn.
- Wrest Weapon - If the target has a weapon or item in its hand, you can make a contested dexterity (sleight of hand) check to disarm them.
Fatal Errors
When an enemy within 5 feet of you misses you with an attack, you can use your reaction to make a grapple or shove attempt.
You can use a weapon held by an enemy that you are grappling to make an attack. For hit and damage modifiers, treat the attack as if you were the one wielding the weapon normally. You can use these weapons to make sneak attacks even if they aren't finesse weapons, provided all other conditions are met.
Chained attack
Starting at 9th level, when you make use subversive tactics, you can make an additional weapon attack.
Opportunist
Starting at 13th level, you no longer need to sneak attack in order to use subversive tactics. You can still only use subversive tactics once per turn, and doing so still reduces sneak attack damage by 2d6.
Up Close and Personal
Starting at 17th level, you have advantage on attacks against an opponent that you are grappling or grappled by.
When not in combat, if you and another creature are within 5 feet, and no other creatures are within 5 feet of both of you, you have advantage on intimidation checks against the creature.
