Monk
Base Class: Monk

Your temple knows the value of piece and the necessity of war. They have trained with a select set of weapons and have mastered using them in balance with their ki.

This subclass gives monks access to the long sword, the glaive and a few battle maneuvers, along with unique abilities tied to weapon fighting and the traditional monk abilities.

Bladed Warrior Technique

When you choose the way of the perfect blade at 3rd level, you gain the long sword and the glaive as monk weapons and the following features:

  • Four battle master maneuvers of your choice.    You gain two battle maneuver die (d6) to fuel these abilities and get them back on a short rest. You gain an additional battle maneuver die at the 6th, 11th, and 17th level when you gain your additional Way of the Perfect Blade traits. You also learn an additional battle maneuver at the 11th monk level. Your battle maneuver die become d8s at level 6, and d10s at level 11.
  • You may have a Preferred Blade. You can only have one Preferred Blade at a time, and it must be a monk weapon or one from a racial trait. You must spend at least a short rest with a weapon to make it a Preferred Blade. While holding this weapon, when you use your reaction to deflect missile, you may choose to "swipe" at it with your weapon instead. This means if you can reduce the damage of two missiles with a reaction, but can't catch them.

Bonded Weapon

6th level

Your Preferred Blade is now considered magical for over coming resistance, and gains  +1 to attack and damage rolls. When you are holding this weapon, add +1 to your battle master die rolls.

Your standing jump can be up to ten feet if it wasn't already, and you can jump ten feet as a reaction. This may be used to get out of the way of area affects. If you are reacting to getting shot with a projectile they have disadvantage on the attack, but melee attacks do not. Jumping away triggers opportunity attacks.

Ki Infusions

11th level

  • Ki Maneuver- You may expend three ki points to regain a battle maneuver die once per short rest.
  • Retaliate- you may spend a ki point to use your reaction to deflect a single melee attack as if it was a missile. If the damage goes to zero, you may spend another ki point to either reduce damage from another attack or attack an enemy in melee range.
  • Blade Dance- if you miss both attacks when you attack when you take the attack action on your turn, you can use fury of blows without using a ki point on your turn.

Slashing Barrage

17th level

When you attack with the attack action you:

  • Gain a third attack for your action and for fury of blows.
  • You can turn advantage on an attack into two attacks. These attacks cannot have advantage. You may do this for every attack with advantage.
  • Use two ki points to gain advantage once per turn. If you didn't use this feature during your turn, you may on a reaction.

You gain a second reaction at this level, and while you are holding your Preferred Blade you gain +2 to your AC and Dexterity saving throws.
